Post-Doctoral Fellow in Triboluminescence Detection Technology

HPMI and the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering is seeking a highly motivated researcher to fill in an opening of a postdoc position in synthesis and characterization of semiconductor thin-film based triboluminescence detector and related nanostructures. Only applicants with extensive hands-on experience in synthesis and optical measurements of semiconductors/nanomaterials will be considered. The applicant should be expert in using of SEM, TEM, XRD, EPR, UV-Vis, FTIR, Radiation simulator and, EIS. The period of employment is 1 year, with a possibility of extension for a 2nd year based on performance and funding availability. Post-Doctoral Fellows/Research Associates

High-Performance Materials Institute (HPMI) has openings for Post-doctoral Fellows/Research Associates as follows. All positions require a two-year commitment. Send application letter, resume, related publications and a list of three references to hpmi@hpmi.net.

  • Area 1: Design and fabrication of fiber reinforced polymer composites, including autoclave, prepreg, RTM, VARTM and any infusion and compression molding processes.
  • Area 2: Synthetic chemistry, including organic chemistry, nanotube doping, irradiation treatment of polymers, nanoparticle self-assembly, layer-by-layer processing, nanotube synthesis, hands-on skills of material characterization, e.g., HRTEM, STEM, XRD, XPS, FTIR, AFM and thermal analysis (DSC, DMA, TMA and TGA).
  • Area 3: Conductive polymers, molecular mechanics and molecular dynamics analysis, including conductance theories and mechanisms, nanoscale and microscale characterization of electron and charge transport, surface contact modeling and characterization, synthesis of conductive polymers.
  • Area 4: Finite element modeling and analysis of large components and structures, including micromechanics and laminate theory of composites, damage tolerance test and modeling.

Mechanical Engineer

The High-Performance Materials Institute (HPMI) has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer. Candidates should have experience in the design, setup, operation and maintenance of industrial machinery. Applicants should have a technical or engineering degree and at least three years of mechanical design experience. Applicants with machining skills are preferred. Post-Doctoral Fellow in Structural Health Monitoring

The High-Performance Materials Institute (www.hpmi.net) at Florida State University (www.fsu.edu) is looking to hire a Post-doctoral fellow immediately in the area of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Engineering with a background in SHM related fields including sensors, NDE, data acquisition, electronics, signal processing and composite materials. A working knowledge in failure mechanics of materials would be an advantage.
